Hello. Please call me Jess. I’m an artist, illustrator and graphic designer based in Hamilton, ON.

I have a Bachelor ’s degree in Visual Art, painting major, from Lakehead University. I completed my studies at the University of Lapland in Finland and went on to earn a college diploma in Computer Graphics from the International Academy of Design in Montreal. For 18 years and counting, I’ve worked as a corporate graphic designer, especially in the healthcare and tourism/hospitality industries. I’ve also worked extensively in the fashion industry which allowed me to incorporate more of my fine arts background into my work and introduced me to surface pattern design - something that at first challenged and frustrated me, but became a practice I soon grew to love. Around the same time I realized, quite simply, I’m most comfortable when I am focused on drawing and set out to expand my career in illustration.

Outside of my work, I’m your average suburban soccer mom. I’m also an avid yogi and cross-country skier. My teens and early twenties as an elite, competitive cross-country skier have shaped many of the faces and places in my life beyond the ski trails. I am continually energized, led, and inspired by a connection to nature.
